This is an oblique LIDAR animation view of a reef off the coast of Hawaii. LIDAR is imaging that uses lasers to show an area in such great detail and accuracy.

This is an infrared aerial photo of flood areas in Queensland Australia. Infrared uses wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation that cannot be seen by the human eye.

Digital Elevation Model

The Digital Elevation Model, a model used by the USGS,  uses a 3 dimensional picture to show an areas elevation. The picture can also be rotated to show the viewer more detail. This picture shows the elevation that surrounds a river.

PLSS Map

The Public Land Survey System uses a  land partitioning system  that takes a systematic approach  to divide up an area. This Map shows the arpent sections found in Louisiana, despite being formed before the PLSS they are treated as a part of the system.
